I've been, but it was back in 1971 on a 'Government Sponsored Cruise'...nice
big gray ship.

Anyway, it was very nice. Dutch owned I believe or was. (Dang, that
was 35 years ago..)

...hmmm..maybe the statute of limitations has run out and I can go back...

Wouldn't go anywhere that was Dutch owned, look what happened to Natalie Holloway.

What happened to Natalie Holloway could happen right here in the good ol' USA, as a matter of fact, it does. Hopefully, Cil won't get in a car full of Curacan men, it is her 25th wedding anniversity. ;-)

The government over there is covering up for that father and his son. I believe he knows where her body is, or knows what happened to her.

Cil, never been to Curacao, so can't help you there. :sosad:
I can say if you are looking at islands to go to, I have been to Barbados and it was magnificent. I enjoyed Barbados more than Maui.
If you like snorkeling, they had some spectacular reefs right off the beach.
There was also so many other things to do and see and the fauna and flora is pretty cool. (green monkeys etc.)

I really liked Seven Mile Beach @ Grand Cayman....until I made the mistake of smacking a live sea urchin while snorkeling... :nono1:

Spent three months there consulting radio stations earlier this year, enjoyed getting to know Cayman through the locals' eyes.

...and if you love island foods, Cimboco became my favorite eats there!

Bummer about the sea urchin.
Seven Mile Beach was where I got probably the worst sunburn of my storied suntanning career. But I sure had fun getting it.
Thanks, Mango. I have heard of Barbados, and Johnrudy, a friend of mine went to St Lucia for her honeymoon this past year and she loved it.
We need to go where the good diving is, I've heard Saba has really good diving but the thing is, it is not easy to get there. I've heard that Belize has excellent diving. But am not sure of its amenities. We don't usually stay at fancy places, but was hoping for a nicer setup for our anniversary. Hmmm. I will look into all these various locations.
Perhaps this thread will be helpful to other potential 25th anniversary celebrants. ;-)

I did not take your diving request into consideration and I do not believe St. Lucia is known for great diving. I'll keep searching.;-)

Cil,

Have you been to the Abacos? We went for our first time in June. We are not divers but I checked the website I used while planning our trip and the Abacos must be a great dive area (not sure how it compares to Cayman & others tho). And as far as lodging, there is all ranges available. Abaco is definately not fancy, more casual/relaxing & very welcoming. Not to mention, close in travel distance. Even tho it is The Bahamas, it's worlds apart from Nassau or Freeport - - I wouldn't have gone if it was!
Good luck in your search.

I've been there - but it has been about 10 years. Really quaint - they have a footbridge-drawbridge that divides the town in half. Kind of cool to see it open and close to let out the shipping traffic.

Only one real good beach and that is man-made I believe. At the time you could take a public bus anywhere on the island for $1.00. They have an open market right on the canal in town where the locals bring their boats up filled with fruit etc.

I enjoyed my time there - but haven't felt the need to go back either.
