Great News!!

This past summer I had my first dinner at D and K's. Of coarse the food and service was outstanding, but Kat and Doug made a point to set down with my wife and I and just talk. It was fun hearing Kat tell how she made her pies and sold them in her car, sometimes almost losing all her pies because of the way she would drive around 30A:rotfl:, but you could tell the passion that these two had for this place, all the hard work in going to New Orleans and finding the art work, it was no doubt a labor of love for them.

This is the type of place I want to eat at, one that not only serves great food, but has a passion for what they do!! God Bless you Doug and Kat!!!

I've never eaten there, but the menu that gets posted on this site from time to time always makes me want to try it! We are going to be in Panama City next week (oddly enough, trying to avoid the crowds at Grayton, where we used to go every year), so maybe we will get over that way... I could go crazy on the appetizers!

I join the chorus of those who are delighted that you have decided to refurbish your dream instead of selling it - I only wish that I could patronize D&K more often.

And to anyone out there who is remotely tempted to eat at a chain restaurant (particularly the higher ended ones that cost the same as a place like D&K) -- please consider that many independents are barely holding on in this crummy economy and they need your business to stay in business.

Here's looking forward to enjoying your fabulous food and service again come February 2009!

Friends don't let friends eat at crappy chain restaurants!

D&K's Oysters Bienville is on my short list for "last meal" options!
