Maybe (just a theory) when the covenants/restrictions were first written, the idea of "light commercial business" meant something other than what the developers/realtors want it it to mean now ($$???). Maybe these restrictions need to be changed to "no business" so that Point Washington and the Daughette's can remain a small quiet neighborhood for us to have some peace. Sowal is changing so rapidly, why can't we keep some places for those of us that do NOT want the high traffic/bright lights(so we can still see stars)/noise in our neighborhood.

Agreed. We have people all around here griping about noise and bars and weddings yet they are wanting to put something as noisy as a marina 20 feet from my house and I am supposed to be okay with it. Not hardly and I agree, what do you think "light commercial" meant in 1959? Certainly not what Tom Stein is trying to make it out to be today.
Also, does anyone know what time the meeting is on August 11th? I don't want to be late.

We do have a noise ordinance.

I lived in the Daughettes for about a year. I run nearly every day on Ricker, often walk or ride my bike at other points of the day as well. I have never experienced any traffic, fast moving vehicles, boats backing, bad driving, etc. on Ricker. I don't know how I could have missed it if it is occurring all of the time. I'm out at dawn, lunch time and afternoon/evening.

Well, I am so glad you never did run into any of these things. I have been living here in this house for 11 years and have called the cops twice in recent years for people speeding down this road. But, since it never happened to you then I must have just imagined it. I am happy to know that those boated trucks were just my imagination too *whew*. Glad you set me straight on that.

I am in awe how many people can live elsewhere yet they know what goes on out my front door. I have plenty of neighbors on the next street over and I go down that street on a daily basis yet I would never presume to tell them what happens in their own front yard. I am going to start checking to see how all of these people are hanging out in my front yard everyday because I have never seen them but they might just have their cloak of invisibility on and my imagination won't let me see them. Kinda like the trucks hauling boats never use our driveway. That is it, I am giving a stern talking to my fairy godmother today. My imagination has gone wild apparently.

NightAngel, unfortunately for you, it doesn't look like posting here is garnering you any favor. Nobody is in your shoes and Tom has a lot of friends and clout so don't take it personally. Not saying anything re: him (or you for that matter) personally, I don't know him and he doesn't know me. it's just my perception. It doesn't appear he is using SoWal to make his case, he's going through the county as he should be. Attend the meeting and voice your concerns if you want to be heard. My $.02, you get what you pay for, lol.

I have already sent letters and pictures to the planning comittee apposing this marina and what kills me is how people keep telling me that they have been down my road but "they" never saw anything. Here is what I want all of you to do. Think about yourself and your house being across the street from this proposed "marina", and I mean 20 feet 2 inches from driveway to driveway and tell me that you would just be "okay" with it? Now, see what I mean. Would you just sit and do nothing? I didn't think so.
So stop judging and put yourself and your home in my shoes for a few minutes and think about someone telling you that they have been down your road and "they" never see anything. Would that not piss you off to no end? Yea, me too.

And those of you who never see anything on my street. I also bet you don't know that there is a woman that comes by my house almost everyday with about 4 dogs on leashes and says hi everytime. I also bet you don't know that there is a guy who rides his bike with his dog following close behind almost every Saturday. I bet you don't know that the house on Bay whose backyard butts up to mine was vacated and sat a mess for months but someone seems to have moved in the last week. And the spanish house down the road has been in ruins for years and the pool was a frog pond and those frogs get loud at night. See, I am sure you know all of these kinds of things where you live to but I would not know these things by just riding down your street on occasion. Are you getting it now?
