hey there sowallers,
my good friend forrest jamison has purchased BIG CITY GRILL from billy and marcia and re-opened friday as DELTA KITCHEN. his concept is what is known in tennessee as a "meat and 3". you get to choose from a daily chalk board of 8 or 10 different meat dishes and then customize your meal with a choice of three sides out of a selection of ten to fifteen.
forrest worked under me at bud and alley's, criollas and cafe thirty-a as a cook and sous chef and this is his first venture as a restaurateur. he has committed himself to strictly fresh products and all from scratch cooking. from pot roast and roasted pork butt to braised shanks and grilled skirt steak to cajun meat loaf and 4 cheese lasagna to whole roasted chickens and fresh catch - the menu changes daily and all the veggie sides are 100% fresh product - no cans or frozen stuff. lunch includes a great selection of sandwiches and forrest may be the only dude around who is grinding his own beef for burgers from a blend of chuck, brisket, sirloin and skirt.
DELTA KITCHEN is open mon-fri 11am to 9pm for lunch and dinner and saturday is dinner only at 5pm and closed sunday.
lunch entrees are $6 to $9 and dinner is $10 to $15 - the best bargain anywhere so drive on up to freeport - only 4 miles north of the bridge in the freeport shopping center on the right.
the best part is that when you sit down he brings you out a bowl of spicy boiled peanuts and homemade pimento cheese and crackers for free as a little snack!!
