I'm surprised you didn't know that, BR. You're pretty computer savvy otherwise. I've written travel reports on Trip Advisor, SlowTrav, and Fodors. Some of them are on pretty basic places like Rome and Paris, but the more obscure ones--ie, Villa Rosa in Montemelino, Italy--those references come up straight away and I see my writing on the web instantly.
Have you ever googled your name? I have and have come up with myself! NOT someone with a similar name who might be known to posterity, but ME. Turned out it was a newspaper interview. I didn't remember talking to a reporter, but when I read what I said, the word useage alone proved it was me, not anyone else. Funny to think that your writing/talking style would be such a giveaway as to who you are.

Yes,in terms of privacy, etc, it is wise to be careful what you post.
Whenever I google my name (I have a really weird last name) the same stuff always comes up. I have a post on a Rick Steves board that goes back to '98.
