Hi Julie. I am Jennifer, Julie, Joy and Jancy Steele's mother. We are the Pinkston's next door to your grandma. I remember you when you were very little and Jancy and Jennifer played together. I can't believe you are so grown up. Jancy started college this year. Yea, the Jennifer/Julie thing is quite a coincidence.

Your cousin Donna Butler and I played together also when we were growing up at Grayton.

I grew up across the street from the Pinkstons -Scotts Place - do you OR ANYONE remember the old "hut" that was there before we built the house? Just like Gilligans Island! I had so many friends when I was young there, but I have such a hard time remembering names....:bang: I tend to just remember the fun we had..crabbing, the store, Oh well....Just thought I would say HI, in case we ever did play together.

I guess I was confused haha. Yeah that is weird with the whole Jennifer and Julie thing, and my cousind name is Joy.

What does the house look like now?

and I know I am too young to remember the store, but dad always tells me about the parties there.

Yes, I definitely remember the "hut". It seems like it was a part camper/part house. I remember several guys who stayed there, some my generation and then some my daughters' age too (well that was after the house was built). I also grew up with Buddy's nephews, the Pruitts, in Atlanta. I definitely remember someone named Glenn. He was already married and not very old. They Mayo twins and I hung out there a lot. Those were really the days.

We've even got some stories about the "hut" that I can't print on this board....not really that bad, but kinda embarrassing now that we're all adults (sort of). We like the "hut". Good folks!!!! :laughing1

This is so cool - the hut had a trailor on the side of it, which is where Buddy stayed, we (everyone else) slept on bunkbeds that were placed all around the room. Glenn is my cousin, he is about 3 yrs older than I am. I am sure we were there at the same time, I was always there when Glenn was, and the Mayo twins. Debra and Barbara.

Do you remember the flag that was painted on the roof of the hut?? My mom did that. I bet that most of those "stories" include my dad, he was always sort of a "character" back then.
PM me PLEAAAASSSSSEEE I would love to read some of those stories.

If anyone has pictures of the OLD HUT, I would love to purchase some copiees.

"What does the house look like now?"

The house that is there now is right beside the Mayos yellow house (if it hasn't sold yet and has new owners) it is white and has just recently (last couple of years) had a boxed in front porch added. it sits back off the road and a HUGE gray house was built next to it last year.

I started lurking this board around the time of Ivan. This is by far the most interesting board I've ever seen-- locals, "pilgrims", everybody! Very welcoming and broad in perspective. Started looking for the beach photos (thanks Smiling JOe and Kurt for terrific coverage), but have learned so much about the area from everybody. My dad was in the Air Force and we started vacationing in Ft. Walton in the mid-60s. Still come back every year with my own family and have introduced many to the area personally. Would move down if I could! Best to all of you guys!
