OFFH is the worst place on 30A...Bad Food..Bad Service....and 2 Bartenders who were out and out thieves..I heard they were finally "let go" or arrested as a friend on mine surmised....the only place in the Destin Area that I go out of my way to tell people to avoid because it is a flat out embarassment to the area IMO

I second the earlier post on Basmatis although I have only been there for lunch. The food and service as excellent.

Some off 30-A recs --

Vint'j (near the outlet mall) for a surprisingly upscale menu and atmosphere in a strip mall, and the food is always outstanding.

Jambones (on 98 near 393) inventive food at excellent prices in a casual atmosphere. The eggs benedict on Sunday mornings. I don't even want to talk about it since it's Wednesday.

Steamboat Bar and Grill (on 98 between the turn off to 30A and the 393 intersection), big plates of consistently good food with some surprising Korean menu items at exceedingly reasonable prices. It's more of a locals "everyday" place so it's not as likely as some places to require a loooong wait, which is nice if you've got hungry kids. The atmosphere is utilitarian (though not cold feeling) and very very clean. It's not a "special destination" restaurant, but perfect for a quick lunch or dinner on the way to another event when you don't want to play roulette with either food quality or crowds.

Tuesday is Locals' Night for a great dinner at Smiling Fish Cafe'. If you can't make that, be sure and have a lunch there; some of the bestest, freshest, seafood with a wide variety of menu items (duck, vegetarian, creole, you name it) by a really great local chef.

Caf? Thirty-A, Borago, Stinky's. I prefer Red Bar for lunch.

You should go to Pizza Bar. It's on a higher level than any other pizza place I've ever visited in the U.S., equivalent to the best of Italy. They have the best grouper on 30A as an appetizer. The Caprese is outstanding. And then, hello, the pizza is light years better than the pizza to which most Americans are accustomed.

I am in total agreement about the Pizza Bar at Seaside. We should mention that it's not strictly pizza, either, but even if it was it would merit an evening out just for the quality of the food and the extraordinary quality of its location. It's wonderful to sit outside at the loggia at the end of the day and watch the sunset as you sip a nice glass of wine and enjoy dinner!
