Yery painful, and I don't even golf. Not sure how I did it to begin with.

30-day round of Celebrex helped at first, but am on three weeks now and it is still very sore. Unable to straighten out my arrm for long, or to reach up and back to wash my hair or put on a necklace.

I know the next step is a cortisone shot. Does anybody else have any advise? I already use ice packs and the IcyHot arm sleeves, but nothing helps for very long. :dunno:

I just live with the numbness. I thought mine was tennis elbow, but am now thinking it might be carpal tunnel.

Tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, little league elbow and tendinitis are all the same the only difference is the mechanism of the injury and muscles involved. In general terms its basically a painful inflammation of the tendon and ligaments, which attach it to the bone (elbow in these cases). It often results from the stress of repetitive movements but can be from a single episode of the stressful supination/pronation of the wrist/forarm. Best thing to do is find a good chiropractor, PT or sport's medicine physician who are familiar with managing these injuries. Evaluating and restoring proper joint mechanics at the elbow (which is made up of three bony articulations radius, ulnar and humerus) is important in prevention of future reoccurances. Also, addressing the mechanism of causation is critical in prevention or reoccurances. Cortisone injections will stop the pain in the short term, but may slow down the healing of the tissues and set you up for another episode if abnormal biomechanics are not addressed. If you are having to get repeative cortisone injections more than likely some abnormal biomechanical mechanism is going on. Smiling Joe, I will be down this weekend and will assist you in determining what may be the source of your problem.

sounds like a plan, skunky. A few years ago, I had a sudden swelling of my elbow, after stressing it working on some art projects. I couldn't do anything with that arm for a couple of weeks. The swelling decreased with ice packs often applied. Now, I feel that numbness in that same general area. I also get that numbness after riding my bicycles or motorcycle for 3-4 hours.

Flyforfun has a great point though, you need to correct the mechanics so the stress is lessened. Some people find relief with a brace. The steroid shot is just to relieve some discomfort, not a fix:D
