It's official. I heard it was terrible, but didn't believe it could be worse than driving in lower New York State until I saw it with my own two eyes.
:yikes:

There was traffic at 10:30 pm, there was traffic at 11 am, just lots and lots of cars everywhere at all times of the day.
Even in the burbs. I was near Johns Creek, and there was still traffic. I've driven home from the city on the FDR and have never seen as many cars. It seemed to get better by the Newnan area on 1-85, but the whole time I was there, just traffic, traffic, traffic.

Bless your hearts who live there, and drive safely.

"Even" in the burbs? ESPECIALLY in the burbs! Downtown is a piece of cake, but Cobb, Clayton, Gwinnett, DeKalb--ick. Johns Creek is up in the trifecta of traffic hell--the Fulton/Forsyth/Gwinnett Burmuda Triangle.

God love you...

oh yes- it is HORRIBLE!!!! The traffic here is so thick. It takes a minimum of 30 minutes to go just about any where. You have to learn back roads and have at least 3 options on how to get some where! My husband was stuck on GA 400 this morning for 45 minutes b/c of a car wreck at 6:45am.

It is enough to drive you crazy for sure. :bang:

When the punz lived in ATL I couldn't believe how snooty people were regarding MARTA. I loved it! In particular, I recall going to a Braves game on MARTA where we boarded the train by her aprtment in midtown...at some point we went on the elevated portion over the interstate and it was total gridlock below us. We then were let out and transferred to Turner Field's front gate on a bus for no extra charge. No parking, no traffic, no hassles! Then, when the game was over, the bus was waiting for us and ran us back to the train station. It was GREAT! We also took MARTA right into the airport and back...awesome. I know the politics involved with not wanting MARTA extended deeper into the burbs, and in my opinion, it is pathetic.

I'm a weirdo. I love MARTA. My brother went to GA Tech, and we would take it from North Avenue to the Omni to go see Van Halen or some such nonsense. My family will take MARTA to the airport whenever possible.

The best was during the Olympics. The trains were packed, but they were packed with cool people from all over the world.

I loved it too. I took the MARTA from Alpharetta to the airport.
It was relaxing to not have to worry about the traffic, not to mention it lets you off right in the terminal. It was extremely convenient.
I would be using that all the time to travel and leave my car home.

MARTA is great for events and whatnot- but totally unrealistic in regards to most peoples commute to work. If I were to rely on the buses etc. my 5 min drive to work would turn into an hour or more.
:trainwreck:

I need relief. Which is why I will be in SoWal in less than 5 days!

I guess it depends on where you live and where you work-you might get lucky and live near a train station and work by one too. But those folks who fled the inner core and now sit in traffic for two hours daily commuting have nobody to blame but themselves.

The problem with Marta is that it doesn't go anywhere that you want to go -- except the airport. Why were counties ALLOWED to veto it? Ridiculous!
