There is a creek that breaks through on occasion between the Ed Waline entrance and Gulf View Heights (Goatfeathers) entrance. Is that what you're talking about?

Eastern Lake finally let out a bunch of water. I walked from One Seagrove Place a couple nights ago to the outlet at Eastern and it had yet to break out. I knew it was close though. Then yesterday while walking through the forest I noticed the ditches leading to the lake had dropped significantly and as I arrived at the back of the lake, it was about 3 1/2 feet lower than the day before.

I would have liked to have watched the actual outflow. I guess it seals up pretty quickly. Lake Powell, closer to Panama City was open for quite some time. Being a bigger lake, I guess, contributes to how long the lake takes to drain. I'm just amazed that Eastern drains as much as it does in such short fashion.

Mike:

I walked over to Eastern Lake's gulfward shoreline tonight after we got in town and also noticed that it had opened. I'm not sure I've ever seen it's outflow this far to the east. Usually the outflow is due south or slightly west, but tonight it goes almost horizontally east in front of the southeasternmost Lakewood street.

On that note, I appreciate the rednecks who were having a late night cocktail hour around 11:30 tonight. They had just left when I went over to the Lake, but they left behind 3 empty cans of Beast Light, an empty bottle of Busch Light, and the potentially hazardous bottle caps from the Busch Light and a missing Corona bottle. The odd thing is that the TDC public trash bags are in place, including one on their way back up to their full size Chevy or Dodge pick-up that was parked at the walkover. I guess they felt it better to leave their refuse on the beach as some type of shrine/memorial to their special event. If they wish to reclaim their belongings, they are in the TDC trash bag in front of Eastern Shores condos.
