My understanding is that someone over 65 cannot legally be treated by a physician that doesn't participate in Medicare. Basically, even though it is your money... you really don't have the right to be treated by the physician of your choice.

I don't think that's correct. Our doctor/friend would take Mom as a patient -- it's just that she'd have to pay 100%.

It doesn't make sense that someone is willing to pay 100% of what the physician charges, yet it is illegal. :dunno:

You just need to choose a physician who is a participating Medicare provider. I guess if the physician you love does not participate you have to pay out of pocket. One more thing - there are people who have Medicare who are disabled and can be any age. There are a lot of Medicare recipients who are way under 65 due to disability. The reimbursements are low you have to have the volume to stay in it. 30as hopper must be a CPA???
