He would have killed them.

Seriously - in the initial news story they mentioned something like this would have meant a death sentence under Saddam.

Of course, but then again I don't think news conferences existed in the Saddam days. This is evidence that things are quite different in Iraq than they were eight years ago. We have been generally down on Bush for invading Iraq, but the reality is that the full implications will not be known until well after the most stubborn 'Bush lied, kids died' bumper sticker fades away.

Bush does represent the Office of the Presidency and this was a shameless, classless act by the "journalist". What really gets me is the fact that the people who read the news at MSNBC cannot contain their giggling about the event. It represents poor journalism at best. Meanwhile, the NY Times and the AP are filling pages describing how the journalist is considered a hero in Iraq. If he had thrown his shoes at Obama, these two prestigious news organizations would want the journalist sent to Gitmo and waterboarded.

Whether you agree or disagree with Bush, the disrespect shown a sitting President is an affront to all Americans. I would just as upset if someone did the same thing to Clinton or Obama.

And if anyone thinks differently do not be surprised when the President elect and the SOS are not shown the respect they deserve.

Americans have done as much or possibly more to make America the laughing stock and hated enemy it has become as Bush has.

I might not agree with Bush and his politics but I respect the President of the US and will do so until he leaves office. I voiced my dislike at the polls.
