The other night, Eric Clapton was on the public television station in our area playing the Blues of Robert Johnson. He had locked himself in a California hotel suite for a couple of weeks and was learning to play and sing a few Robert Johnson songs, as Robert played them. He said to learn how to play all of Robert's songs, as he played them, would be a life's work, even for Eric himself. That was an incredible show. I believe you can probably search online for a DVD of the taping of that. It was unlike anything I've ever seen and gave me a greater appreciation of someone who I always thought of as a simple blues man, Robert Johnson.
