Interesting story: years ago, I was discussing this very issue with a co-worker. He was leaning towards Eric, and I countered with these exact words: "Yeah, Eric is good, but Stevie is next to God!" The next day, Stevie died in a helicopter crash. So maybe it's David Gilmour, or Adrian Belew, but I'm not gonna say Eric is next to God, no, no, no.
LVT, eerie story!!
Mr. DD and I went to SRV's funeral. It was hot as hell, I had on a black dress and panty hose for God's sake, but the thing I most remember and will forever remember is Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Wonder singing "Amazing Grace" a cappella. It gave me chills even in the blistering heat.
Stevie all the way. I love EC but Stevie just had IT. Eric can play like nobody's business but with Stevie the music, the intensity didn't just come through his guitar, it came through him. I might cry now. My daughter was nearly named Stevie but we thought people might think we meant Stevie Nicks. We were supposed to be in Alpine Valley that night but our daughter (then 8 months old) got sick. I remember saying, "we can always we see him another time"
