They must love you like a sister if they feel they can tease you. (Who can blame them ) Since they are spending so much time checking your socks out, take an old pair and write "Bite Me" on them. They'll have something to read while they are staring.

That being said I usually match my socks to my pants and shoes so I can look tall and thin like Cindy Crawford. I'm sure it's working. ;-) Most people stare at my chest not my shoes. Which is a shame since my shoes are so cute.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Dune-ahhh, I was going to say the same thing! Ditto that!

this is a pretty interesting thread Audi. and may I congratulate you for starting it and being here with us again. I am honored.

Like Traderx, I have two colors of socks: black and white. mostly white. most of the white socks are the short cut athletic shocks - some are made so you can't even tell you are wearing them. they are great when wearing clogs or danskos. or tennis shoes. if you are wearing tennis shoes - white works best, imo.

I don't know why but I would never in a million years buy socks that were any color besides white, maybe a brown, and a few black. NEVER COLOR!!! unless they were little cozy socks for the house. or unless they were just crazy funky socks that I wanted to wear just for funn like once a year.

mostly, I don't wear socks except in winter when I'm not in open shoes. but with certain shoes you need them. you wear the socks you like and work for you! and that's all you need.:wave:

Hey go for it, if David Letterman can wear light socks with a dark suit, I figure you can too.

If you are at work does it really matter what color socks you wear? (in your line of work)

I say wear some crazy neon colors and do like Cheering said write bite me on them.

My ex-husband was an incredibly snappy dresser -- usually coordinating his socks with his suspenders. My favorite of all his suits was a very staid & serious charcoal pinstripe that he wore with pink socks & pink suspenders with silvery gray naked ladies woven into them!!

I have socks of two colors: black and white.

White is for walking, hiking or otherwise wearing with sneakers, hiking boots, etc. Black is for dress and causal such as khakis. I am color blind so this helps.

Trivial question: if you are in a dark room and know you have twelve white socks and twelve black socks in a drawer, how many socks must you remove from the drawer to ensure you have a matched pair?

Traderx this is a trick question isn't it?:popcorn:

As for color of socks - white with tennis shoes and none with flaps, but the same color hue as my pants (except jeans which could be worn with flaps or tennis shoes, or boots, and since no one can see them you could choose to go sockless, but then you would rub blisters on your feet). Ohhhh never mind now I confusing myself.:dunno:

I do love the feel of brand new socks though.
My mother asked me what I wanted for Christmas one time and I said 365 pairs of socks, so I can put a new pair on everyday. But she ignored my request!

tough question. Wouldn't it be easier to just wear sandals with no socks instead of shoes? That's how I solve the problem.

In the past, back when I wore socks, I recall it being fine to wear white socks with any color tennis shoes, and those never matched my blue jeans, and I certainly wasn't wearing a white belt. Good luck. Most importantly, forget what anyone else thinks.

doesn't work too well in winter with snow....:D

i have mostly white socks that i wear with everything. i hate creeper socks, you know, where they creep down into your shoes as you walk.....:pissed: i finally found some good socks that don't creep but they were all white - so i bought them.

people just like to pick on me at work - makes the time pass quicker i guess.:D

the moral of the story is - who cares what they think - i love my white socks and black or navy pants. if i could only pull my pants up to my boobies, i would look like my papaw - and that ain't all bad
