Interesting thread. I have a question...has there ever been peace on earth?

There have always been warring tribes, cities, states, etc. Then world wars, & now competing nations that possess nuclear weapons, but because of MAD (mutually assured destruction), sponsor or start regional wars. And now we have terrorists who seek the worst weapons, & more nations that possess them.

But we also have an emerging world culture, for the first time ever. Largely through the Internet, the people of the whole world are sharing thoughts & feelings directly. And most people prefer peace to war, & will promote that peace -- with freedom & love for our fellow human beings.

It is time for a new beginning. I once heard a singer say in an interview, "Either we will have a Golden Age, or nothing at all."

According to Pitirim Sorokin, in _Social & Cultural Dynamics_, in a period of time in ancient China, there were several centuries of peace. So where there is a feeling of solidarity in a stable culture, peace is more than possible on a large scale.

In our new world culture, it is a true necessity. And deeper than governments, our culture -- our worldwide sharing of values -- is the key our planet's future. It is in our hands & hearts. As we make that creative effort, we receive God's Grace... And peace on Earth will finally dawn.

You're again confusing criticizing an unnecessary war with patriotism. It's those who did not believe what was told by our leaders initially who will protect our troops more than those in power now. Can the self righteous conservatives among us ever have the strength to admit the folly of this massive clusterama. I hope at some point it will hit everyone like a ton of bricks. Imagine our government giving 20-50k for an education, instead of enticing our young men and women to watch over the chaos we've made. Let's all make a huge list of everyone whose country needs to be invaded, with all the oppressors who need to be put to justice. It should be a nice, long, juicy list. Now fold up that list, put it in your mouth, and see how foul that idea really tastes.

i can see from your post though that you are motivated by rage and violence which is why i find it amusing that you label your ideology peaceful and yet you choose such a violent, abusive approach to promoting it.

I hate being in fights but I felt I needed to say this. I don't know Bob, never met him - but he seems like a caring person from the posts that I have read. This is less about disagreeing with Raven and more about Bob knowing that I, a newbie doesn't consider him as violent, abusive, or having an abusive nature. So Bob.

I love for people to express their opinions. But once you express your opinion in a public place, (like this board) be prepared for people not to agree with you.

I don't always agree with my best friends, but that is what makes our relationships so amazing. We can talk about anything and not get mad.
