Yes, Great Southern has great gouda cheese grits!!! But, this little gem in Seaside offers a big variety of southern dishes with a twist of other fresh flavors from local farms and from all over. I think of Great Southern as our local diner offering excellent comfort foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Many friends of ours love hanging out on the porch for happy hour with oysters and cocktails. It's a comfortable place any time of the day. We often have a business breakfast meeting, or meet friends for lunch. Special menus are created each Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and New Year's Day.

Grits A Ya Ya - one of the most popular items on the menu for breakfast and offered all day!
Blackened shrimp, sauté of applewood-smoked bacon, spinach, portobello mushrooms, & cream on a bed of smoked Gouda cheese grits topped with sweet potato hay.

Lunch or dinner specials are often available. If they are having the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with green beans, I'm IN every time. The burger is one of the best around, and the fried chicken is fried to perfection. A big list of southern sides are offered including fried okra, collards, fried green tomatoes, gouda grits, sweet potato fries, to name a few. Sunday Brunch is always a popular time to spend the morning or afternoon with a bloody mary or mimosa and good eats.

It's all good stuff! And for the finale', you can't miss the key lime pie. It's the biggest, best and most beautiful piece of pie in Florida! No kidding.

Yes, I do a shout out or a review on restaurants on occasion. But would like to feature a restaurant per week. We have so many great ones in our area! Very proud of our restaurants - they work hard and deliver the good eats every day!

GS is my "go-to" spot for lunch. Great food, reasonable prices, fantastic servers. Monday is meatloaf day and Tuesday is fried chicken day. But, it's just darned hard to beat their burger! Don't let the fact that it is in the heart of Seaside deter you - they know that it's us locals that keep them in business throughout the year and truly appreciate our business. And of course,you can't beat their happy hour!
