First, the parents are down in Naples and will not budge when Wilma veers their way. Luckily nothing lost but electricity.
Now the tornado! Our son Alex is at USI in Evansville, Indiana. You know, that place that got hit by a tornado during the night.
I was awoken from a deep sleep at 11:30 am by Alex's girlfriend, wanting to know if I'd heard from Alex since she hadn't been able to get hold of him. She was worried sick. The kid finally called in about an hour or so, saying that he was safe, that it was a mobile home community that took the brunt of the storm. Alex said it was like a tsunami washed over Evansville, that the air was like one solid fierce wall of water.
I believe him! I was awake at 3 am when the high winds whipped through Indianapolis. (Merman left yesterday for business in the UK, and I can never fall asleep until he checks in with me when he lands--usually in the middle of the night our time--) All our windows were open since the weather has been so mild. Everything in front of windows like vases and doodahs went flying! Then the wind started actually howling and whistling. I felt like I was in the middle of a Dorothy movie. So I can only imagine what it was like in Evansville where the real action was taking place.
SO, everyone, if things happen in THREES, and my family's already done a hurricane and a tornado within the space of a month, what next?
 Oh, I know, maybe the New England, where my siblings live, will get hit with a huge Nor'easter...

I tell ya, in our house, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
