THANK YOU!!!! by the way I've been doin my "kids are back in school happy dance " all morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1:

I remember those days! Boy, where did the time go? Seems like only yesterday I too was rejoicing on that first day of school! :clap_1: Now I'm a little melancholy...kids are all grown with families of their own. Soon they'll be sending their own kids off to their first day of school!

Enjoy the moments while you can, because sooner than you can imagine it'll be just a sweet memory

Luckily mine all live nearby, so I get the benefit of spoiling the little sweeties and then sending them back to their parents ;-)

I'm not sure who its harder for. The child or the parent. Never thought I'd cry sending my last one off to school, but when she walked towards the door, turned and looked at me like a lost puppy, the water works opened up! Now as I sit at work, I wonder what she's doing now, is she scared, is she having a good time? I'm having a panic attack, have I done my job...did I prepare her for this? Whoa...stopping there before I go into a rant and start singing a verse from Sunrise, Sunset.
If you think that's bad, wait until they leave for college. I flew with my only child 1200 miles to take her to college in Boston. When I left her to take the cab to Logan, I was really trying to be strong. Then when the Delta gate agents announced that that they would be boarding for ATL, I lost it - started bawling. An agent approached me and said that they wouldn't let me board the plane crying. I explained the situation to them. They said that I would upset the other passengers and that I would have to wait until the next flight. I said, "I don't care if it's this flight, the next flight, or the next, I'll be crying. So I guess I'll have to stay in Boston forever." I called my brother who works for Delta, and he said that they could keep a person from boarding for whatever reason they choose. He said for me to just suck it up, stop crying, and then once they pulled away from the gate, I could cry. He coached me through the next 30 minutes, making sure that I wasn't crying. I begged them to let me board, and they did.

She's now at Tech - missed the South!

And then they graduate from college. Our older son has finished school, and in a couple weeks we will put him on a plane for France. He already did this once before, but back then we knew he'd be return in the spring. Now he's got the rest of his life to figure out.
He can't wait to get out of here, but I guess that's healthier than ending up like Will Ferrell in The Wedding Crashers.

Ktschris I hope your daughter and her sibs all had a great first day.

College and all of the related expenses is such a money pit. Every month it shocks me how much I've spent. One month I spent over $3000, and that didn't include books or tuition. I'll definitely be celebrating when she graduates - just hope she stays near ATL.

And ktchris, your children are just adorable. Hug them every time you get a chance!
