John Voss, longtime Air Force officer and executive at Eglin Air Force base, will speak to the Emerald Coast Meditation Society May 19 on “The Keys to Longevity:Five Ways to Age to a Healthy 100."
The free meeting will start with a 30-minute meditation at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 N. Co. Hwy. 393, Santa Rosa Beach, one-half mile north of Hwy. 98. The ECMS is ecumenical and follows no religion.
Voss grew up in New York City the second son of immigrant parents. After graduating from New York University he received a commission as a lieutenant in the USAF, where he served for 27 years, traveling the world and raising a family. Along the way he earned a M.S. degree from Texas A&M University and completed several professional military schools.
Among his assignments were as an ICBM launch control officer, a computer operations officer, and an acquisition contracting officer. He was promoted to the rank of colonel. After retiring from Eglin AFB as director of contracting and manufacturing, Voss started his own business in consulting and training. He lives in Niceville.
