Good mom! My allergy/asthma doctor has told me that because of my allergies and asthma I should get it even if it means shoving an old lady out of line at gunpoint...

Now, now...I'd say you are definitely in the high risk group, no?

Yes, sweetest--that is DEFINITELY what I'm/he's saying!

Life is getting a little scary if you ask me--over the last couple of years, I've seen no less than 3 cases of staph crop up in the schools/camps where I've worked, and at least one case of that resistant type (MRSA? MSRP? MARTA?) Everyone and their brother is deathly allergic to peanuts these days, and we have a new case of stage IV cancer show up about every 6 months just in my church.

Why are we so sick?

we do not do flu shots. just try to stay healthy, and typically deal with a few colds and sinus infections, but nothing more. but, we do not have any high risk health problems in our family. if you do (including very young or older family members) - please do consult your doc about flu shots.

I would like to learn more about some natural preventive and remedies for cold, flu and sinus infections though.

You and me both. You know when I was sick a few weeks ago? Well I've done everthing I could to prevent a sinus infection from it. Sinus rinses, nasanex, mucinex...the works. And guess what? I have a dr appt in the morning b/c I still feel like sheet. I still have drainage and it's now causing breathing issues so I gotta stop it before it turns into bronchitis or pnemonia.

oh, I can relate with the sinus infections. I tell you though, I have helped my last few colds by doing the nasal flush religiously and taking limited cold meds - I don't know why but the cold meds seem to make my colds worse and I've finally realized that I usually get a sinus infection in the end when I do take them. strange.

Thanks for that info! I confirmed w/ my onc today and my kids can't have the flumist and me be around them. They will be sad. What is the pneumovax? for pneumonia? I haven't had it, tell me more. Do I need to because I am imunosuppresed? (sp)

Vaccine against a host of Streptococcus bacteria. The vaccine has snippets of 23 different strep cell membrane components, nothing living. The immunocompromised and everyone over 65 should recieve it.

Wash your hands and consider a flu shot which contains 100% organic viral components that will stimulate the immune system mother nature gave you!

you could probably talk me into the shot. but not sure bout spidey.:D he might have to defend himself with his light saber. but if your nurse gets him then you can blame her and pretend you had nothing to do with it. you can have a light saber too and you can join in spidey's rebellion.

we are just very lucky to have never run into the flu, though we've experienced a bout of pneumonia and bronchitis and strep. like once. knock on wood. let us pray.
