Left Santa Rosa Beach Saturday a.m. after a Friday evening dinner and 3 out of 5 made over 10 stops each all the way home to Illinois. We are still in the bathroom today.

Should have known as when one took a bite said it tasted of vomit. We all took bites and 2 others thought the same exact thing... Figuring it was the crust we ate the inside. I also had the chili rel. and it was soaked in grease.

PS....The kid's burgers were delicious ! And our sweet 14 y.o. waitress was extremely pleasant!

I'm confused. There is a big difference between food poisoning and bad food. You cannot taste bacteria like salmonella. (That is not to say that you don't have food poisoning.)

You need to report your case to the Walton County Health Department, and you should report it to the owner of the restaurant.

One tip for you: Gatorade will be your life saver if you have food poisoning. Go buy a bunch of it and start drinking.

So sorry to hear about your illness. I edited your thread because I believe there are viruses that can cause the unfortunate sickness you have. It could also be caused by some other food. I'm not sure but I believe food poisoning onset is within hours. Maybe a doctor on the board can correct me if I'm wrong. I hope you all feel better soon.

We wouldn't want to harm a business unintenionally if you are wrong. Please refer to the rules of the board - [ame="http://www.sowal.com/bb/showthread.php?t=2"]SoWal forum rules & general info - SoWal Beaches Forum[/ame] :

Regarding negative posts about a local businesses, we get very few of those and our policy is to suspend negative posts that will damage a business until there is corroboration, or at least until the business is able to respond with their side of the story. The important thing to remember is that mistakes are made by all businesses and they should have a chance to handle problems privately. Using SoWal.com to vent anger or to try to "get back" at a business is not allowed. If you're not willing to picket a business, or stand outside with a bullhorn broadcasting your grievance then it probably shouldn't be posted on SoWal.com.

If anyone else got sick after eating at a local business let me know.

Food poisoning can be quick to slow to see a reaction, depending on which bacteria it is. Some take effect within a couple of hours, and others up to almost a full day. I've had food poisoning more times than I wish to think about, and the worst ones took about 8-12 hours to see any reactions. Kurt is right in that it could also be a virus which made you sick. I've also had the unfortunate experience of contracting Giardia, which will keep you going to the restroom often, though it is nothing like my cases of Salmonella, which resulted in intense pain, like I've never experienced otherwise.

The confusing part to me was the mention of the food being soaked in grease. Heavy grease can take its toll on the digestive system. Again, I'm no medical doctor, and am certainly not diagnosing the poster's medical condition.

I do know of two others that became ill after eating at this place. One of them was sickened twice in a week. It did start about 12 hours after they ate there. It was reported to the state i believe. The Walton Health dept does not handle those type of complaints. Kurt, I realize that you don't want to hurt a business, but if the business is hurting the customers unknowingly, something needs to be said about it.

My experience is that visitors come in to the clinic convinced they have food poisoning after a few folks in the family develop vomiting and diarrhea. Usually it is viral gastroenteritis and not food poisoning-all it takes is one ill person in a cramped beach house to spread a good stomach bug;it is the same thing you hear about on cruise ships.

I often do a stool culture and out of dozens run, I have isolated Campylobacter (indicative of true food poisoning) once. And I must say, the guy who had it ate some raw food and looked like he was going to die;most of the folks who come in with 'food poisoning' look subjectively well.

Of course I want to warn people if it is proven to be true or if the place has a record of repeated problems but I have seen a case where a horrible stomach virus spread withinn 12 hours among multiple people at the same event without being related to food. Also see Dr. Skunkape's post above.

Since this is your first post please PM me or email me with your story and a way I can verify it. I believe one of our members can look up health code violations online also.

Yeah....I normally just eat around the vomit too. But sometimes I find the vomitty taste reason enough to STOP EATING! I have eaten where I would guess you are describing innumerable times at all hours of the day (where else has a chile rel. and a 14 y.o. waitress?) and have had no problems. Did y'all eat any of that insanely delicious hot sauce in the squirt bottle that is insanely hard on the G.I. tract?
