Anyone heard of this? I'm not interested in joining myself, but my sister is thinking of doing so. Apparently, they have 30 some odd boats. You pay $5000/year and get to use any of them whenever you want. I'm a little suspicious of the whole thing--how good is their maintenance, how likely is it that boats will not be available when you want them, what kinds of hidden costs are there, what happens if an engine craps out while you're using it, etc.

I did a little bit of internet searching...found lots of sites (apparently they have chapters throughout the country) and did not find anything negative about them, but I'm a still a little skeptical.

Anyone know anything about them?

Seems to me if you don't own a boat, it would be easier to just rent one. You would have to spend an awful lot of time on the water to surpass $5K in rental fees.

Legacy is another one - I think it is a Legendary operation:

http://www.legacyboatclub.com/.

I thought about this until I found out the pricing: $14,000 up front fee and $2,200 per year over a five year contract. The only other cost is fuel - well, perhaps I shouldn't say "only" In addition, I recall you can only use the boats during the day and they must be returned in the evening.

You can pick up your boat at Sandestin or Legendary. I've check a few times at Baytowne and they have mostly Chaparral Sunesta's (256) and a small trawler-type vessel. They may have had a walk-around center console fish boat too.

Very Nice Indeed :D Uh, That's not a Z with a hitch??

I've been looking at sunesta's. It seems to be a nice day boat for these parts and has gotten good reviews. Here's one from Legendary I've had my eye on:

Thanks! That's a little joke amongst friends. That's my Infiniti G Coupe with the optional "Tow Pak" :D . Just funning I tow with the Burb  .

Some boating advise. DON"T BUY NEW! unless money is not a concern. There are so many boats out there 2 - 4 years old with less than 100 hrs on them. That's pratically new! I bought my off boattraderonline.com for $7,000 less than any others in the market. It's an '02 with a 350 Mag. Which brings me to my most important piece of advise. DON'T BUY ANYTHING WITH LESS THAN A 350 MAG ENGINE!! You can NEVER have enough horsepower in a boat!! (Unless you are buying something small and light.)
