Deep fried coke?????????????? Is that even possible?

It's actually deep-fried Pepsi, on account of the Pepsi Coleseum being on the fairgrounds. From the article that went with the photo (courtesy of the New York Times; looks like our state fair made the news ) here's how it's done:

Jeremy Orme, who runs Fried Creations, the home of the Combo Plate, introduced a new item at this year?s fair: deep-fried Pepsi. He rolls out his Pepsi-based dough, dips it in a batter made with Pepsi and deep-fries it for 90 seconds. His oil, made of soybeans, is trans-fat free as required, and on the front of his booth he has posted a local newspaper?s account about the fair?s trans-fat ban.

I love fair food. Used to save my pennies all year to buy corny dogs, french fries, corn on the cob and anything else I could eat! The State Fair has been on a roll lately of seeing what could be fried. I think last year the winner was fried coke! Alas, I spend my fair days in sowal now. :violin:

That chicken fried bacon just made my arteries cry!

:scratch:Do they have chicken fried "Planter's Punch" on the menu?
