this sounds like a good idea--use the assets from criminals to fund government and refund to victims. From our former Attorney General.

What do you all think?

I wonder what the Walton Co Sheriff's Office does with drug money that is retrieved upon arrest of the dealers...anybody know? Our LEO seem to spend a lot of time hunting down drug deals...there must be a lot of "loot" to dispose of.

I think it's a great idea in theory, but an accounting/legal nightmare in reality.

I think the reason they don't do it more is because of the difficulty in showing that the items are forfeit due to being obtained w/ "ill-gotten gains" and because anyone about to be charged transfers their assets to others to avoid it or hides them outright.

If we can make it work, I say heck yes do it!

And, I think they use that money to attract other drug cartels into a bust as well........that money is tagged for certain.

I always like the police auctions. This car was in a drug bust????? Brand new Escalade, completely tricked out - who knew?
