I drove from Seagrove to the north side of Atlanta today. Here's what I found.

SoWal and PCB - Every station open, all grades available, regular $3.62.

Vernon and Cottondale - Only Tom Thumb has gas. Two other stations in each town empty.

Bonifay exit at I-10 and 79 - 3 stations, all open, all grades

Dothan, Eufaula, Phenix City, Columbus - About 1/3 of stations out altogether, most of the rest have regular only. Only a few have all grades.

Newnan - Most stations empty. Maybe 1 in 4 open, and they have only regular.

Atlanta - I didn't even try.

North of Atlanta. Just like Newnan.

Some stations have a max purchase limit, require cash only, exclude cans, or have some other restriction.

Once you get to Alabama, regular is about 3.85. Bumps to 4.00 in the Atlanta area.

Buckhead BP on Piedmont, been out of all types for three weeks. I hope they get some gas before the man with the Peanut Butter Bars tries to come to the beach.

Thanks very much for the report! I'm driving from Atlanta to Port St. Joe next Friday and I'm concerned. I drive a Jetta diesel. Diesel can be hard to find on the road in ordinary times - and these are not ordinary times. It's a zoo here.

Diesel drivers are thumbing their noses at all the gas powered cars. I have, yet, to run across a single station that is out of diesel...

I have to confess I wasn't looking at the diesel nozzles real closely. But my recollection is that a lot of them were bagged.

You should do like I did - which will probably piss off a lot of folks. I stopped and topped up at every opportunity until I knew I would arrive with a comfortable margin. Once you get to the Panhandle, it should be just fine.

We had a couple of them run out of diesel around here. I'm not sure what to think--the MINI only has about 50-70 miles left, and I refuse to wait in one of those lines. It's madness.

Fortunately, I only have to drive about 20 miles tomorrow, and then I'm going to bed until Tuesday.

It wasn't until after I purchased a diesel that I realized not every station sells diesel, so you have to plan ahead... but the mpg really is fabulous. All 3 of the places I usually fuel up have run out in the last 2 weeks, but thankfully not at the same time. I start looking around at about 1/4 tank.

However, I will be the only adult traveling at night with children and won't be taking any chances between Atlanta and St Joe next week. Thanks again for the info!

P.S. My granfather lives in Port St. Joe and my kids and I will be visiting him for his 83rd birthday. Can't let a gas crunch spoil the party!
