The New Busch Stadium -- It's different. At the beginning it was like being in a whole different city, someone else's park. But then you turned around and the skyline the Arch were right there! Beautiful. Last night, we had bleacher seats (I gave up my seats to my mom and dad, didn't think they'd like the bleachers) As it turns out, they are great seats!! Gone are the days where you knees knock into the guy in front of you. There is a lot of leg room, I could cross mine without coming close to the next row!! And they have back rest now! Behind the left field bleachers is a huge plaza with a lot of venders and concessions, still a great view from there. My 5 year old daughter sat down and said "wow, look how clean" My kids managed to trash the place with a bag of peanuts in about 6 minutes. It's now broken in
Beers of course cost more. $8.25 for 24 oz. or $7.00 for a 16 oz plastic bottle (tried one, not worth it). Best bet if your bringing kids, bring your own soda, water and snacks (no cans or bottles) Even out of a vending machine soda was $4.50.
The down side of the new stadium -- you can't walk around the inside (seat side) anymore, all sections are broken off. That is probably the one thing I will miss the most.
But you know what is there? The mojo!!! Felt it right away, and if there was any doubt, 7th in stretch...."here comes the beer, here comes the big number one...." made it feel like home!!! St. Louis fans will forever be special, no one could tell that we were watching a Triple A club play a Double A club. They were into it and they let the players know it! Not to mention Pujols already jacked one out of the park at batting practice on Monday!
They raised the permanent flag last night. It was brought home by The Missouri National Air Guard. The flag was theirs while in Iraq. You could hear a pin drop as it was being raised, and despite a rough beginning, not a dry eye as it was followed by "God Bless America"
Save these for trivia -- First pitch was thrown by and iron worker and caught by a brick layer, both had worked on the stadium from day 1!
First hit in the park -- Chris Duncan (Dave Duncan's son, look for him to be back in the bigs)
First to score -- Chris Duncan
And the first home run...Josh Boyd :clap_1:
