Many years ago this was one of the best. I still like the Shrimp PoBoy for lunch but not interested in dinner there any more. When I say years ago... the entrance used to be up some stairs on the outside of the building (long long time ago !). They used to have the best gumbo too but its been years since I ate it.
We also buy from the market in Seagrove and have always been happy.

Goatfeathers has seen an unfortunate decline in quality and service from the restaurant side. :sosad:

The fish market located on the bottom floor is very good, and you can get quality, fresh seafood of all types there if you want to prepare and cook it yourself.

The owner, Pat Miller is a good guy. I chalk up the decline in the restaurant side at Goatfeathers to the lack of qualified people to work in the marketplace and also their desire to close at early hours. I have tried to get food there in the past at 8:30pm only to be told the kitchen was already "closed".

Goatfeathers now has a built in "tourist" market to service during season. It no longer serves as a "locals" place as it once did years ago. It is a shame, as it used to be a nice place to get a decent seafood dinner for the price.

Ditto, I will buy fish in the market, but I stopped eating upstairs after my third visit, which was no different from the first and second visits -- all of which would probably not be too different from my fourth visit if I so chose to go today.

Maybe they should convert Goatfeathers into a formal dining restaurant. :rotfl:

For good old fashion fried seafood, go to Bayou Bills on Hwy 98.

:funn: ...CHOMP!!!!

We have been twice....no more for these fools!

There is a reason why most restaurants don't serve fried dill pickles. Yucky!

Yes, Shrimpers is still open on Hwy 98, but I find that I like Goatfeathers fresh fish better, and Goatfeathers debones the fillets for you. However, I do shop at Shrimpers more often because of location.

It's like Tommy Boy when you eat that. Where David Spade says I can hear you getting fatter. Wow wee. Fry anything and dip it in ranch. Brilliant.
