I  grandparents. If only they could live forever. :dunno: I can still hear my Nanny and Pappa laughin' and tellin' stories in their sweet east Texas country talk. They had guinea hens, cows and beautiful gardens with a creek in their yard. We'd swim in the creek on those hot Texas summer days. Memories  . their parents were loggers(kinda like in Pt. Washington a long time ago, where they floated the logs down the river) and the other one was an engineer from Scotland who built roads in Texas, along with his sons. The great grandmas are more of a mystery. I think one was from a reservation in OK.
My other Grandpa was a corn farmer in Nebraska, and Grandma was a teacher. They all grew up in the depression. I wish I would've recorded more of their stories, esp. about family history. I feel lucky to have gotten to hang out on the corn farm for a little while in the summers as a kid before they retired and sold the farm. Talk about some hard work. I remember grandpa workin' in his irrigation, thumpin' the end of the tubes with his hand to get 'em runnin', ridin' the big John Deere harvester tractor with the cab. Can't believe I got to ride on the side on the big tire cover when I was 6 or 7. :yikes: It was the 60's. We waited in the car all the time for our moms back then. :dunno: Maybe it was safer then. :dunno: Oh well, got off track. I just  old folks. I wish families could get a break from the government for leaving work to care for our own elderly family in their/our own homes. Anyhow, old people rock and can teach us so much if we just take a minute to listen to them. ;-) Gosh they  to tell stories. At least mine did. I was very blessed to get to hear 'em. A lot of people never even got to meet their grandparents. Sorry for that. :sosad:
