I am a married man, I can't discuss my sheets with other women.

The man has a point...those stars and bars are so seductive...he can't taunt and tease the wenches on the board that way!

I mean...what woman wouldn't spend days dreaming of BeachSiO2's lair of seduction....

BeachSiO2, if you want to find out some scoop on SC flying the Confederate Flag on top of the State and US flags on the capital bldg, you should talk to my B-I-L, while you are up there in D.C. I think I told you who he worked for before getting the lobbyist gig. Just ask him to tell you some stories about the Senator. :rotfl:

Studying the Confederate Flags is very interesting, and even more interesting is the ignorance of people when it comes to the history of the flags. For example, who recognizes this flag?

That is the first Confederate Flag of the Navy. Doesn't raise any eyebrows, does it? Yet, it is a Confederate Flag which flew on the Confederate ships during the first part of the War Between the States.

Here's one a little deeper, which is just about stupid:

Nothing stupid looking so far, right? Remember when everyone was raising hell about the Confederate Flag being part of the State Flag of Georgia? The above flags are the Flags for the according years for the State of Georgia. The Georgia Congress changed the flags to eliminate the Confederate Flag from the State Flag. You can even see the 1956 flag in the banner across the bottom of the 2001 Flag, which was also rejected. Which flag replaced it? You see the 2003 Flag for the State of GA. Looks pretty good, doesn't it? At least until you realize that it incorporates the first Flag of the Confederacy, which first flew in 1861 above the Captial of the Confederacy in Montgomery, AL.

I think if most of the people, who were raising hell about the Confederate Flag being incorporated into the GA State Flag, had a touch of a history lesson, GA's current State Flag would also be banned. Funny how ignorance is bliss.

SJ I completely agree with what you have stated. However, the confederate flag is one that has been flown by a lot of men wearing sheets and burning crosses. It is also synonmous with racism. If you don't feel that is true, put one one on your truck and drive thru Harlem.

Remember the Nazi symbol was originally an American Indian symbol, and used by several other religions.

The examples above are different as they are reversed and symbols of life as compared to the Nazi version. Hitler reversed it and turned it 45 degrees, but in either form any rational person would first think of the holocaust.

Oh, I know very well that the Confederate Flag was flown by the KKK and is a symbol of racism, but the KKK also held the Bible, and burned Crosses (Christian symbol). Also, the Rebel Flag incorporates the Cross of St George (other Christian symbol). My point was that the Confederacy was a symbol of slavery, and to incorporate the original Confederate Flag into the GA State Flag is interesting, since no one is saying anything about it.

By the way, that Nazi symbol goes way back in time, long before American Indian history in what is now the USA. Hindus, Buddhists, and even Catholics used the symbol for many, many years, with documented evidence of the symbol dating back a few thousand years before Christ's birth.

People have a way of latching their mission onto that which is popular, because that is the easiest way to convert people, somewhat blending the two during the interim. Nothing surprising there. Every Christian holiday is on dates of Pagan holidays. Hitler took a good sign and made it bad, and the KKK latched onto the Word of Christ.

The thirteen stars on the GA flag represent the original thirteen colonies, not the states of the Confederacy on the naval flag above. The design of the GA state flag is inspired by the original stars and stripes, and is there because Georgia was one of the original 13 states.

Did you know that the five point stars, also found in the Confederate Flags, are called, "mullets?"
