Al Green, Three Doors Down, Coldplay, Weezer, Chris Issak, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Jonny Lang, Crosby/Nash... I could go on!! I want to check out that band RO keeps talking about! Love Bob Marley too!!!

Coldplay? Sorry, I hear enough whining in my every day life without listing to the whiniest band on earth when I'm trying to relax.

I usually just put the radio on the Seabreeze and let those Silver Bullets rip.

I might pop in a little Drive By Truckers if I'm feeling special sporty.

I like Jimmy Buffet too, but man, I had a terrible time at his concert years ago. The Parrotheads were out of control.
People were falling down drunk from tailgate parties in the parking lot, it was Barfarama stepping through there, and by the time the show started the crowd was so obnoxious. The couple next to us hassled each other the whole night, then got taken away by security after the husband began choking the wife.
Of course it wasn't Jimmy's fault!

Favorite beach-type mix:

School's Out for Summer - Alice Cooper

Surf's Up Tonight - Midnight Oil

Vacation - the Go Gos

Fight for Your Right To Party - Beastie Boys

The Roots - The Seed

Good Vibrations - Beach Boys

Groovin' - The Rascals

Summer Song - Chad and Jeremy

Three Little Birds - Bob Marley

Sailing - Christopher Cross

A Pirate Looks At Forty - Jimmy Buffet

We're Going to Be Friends - White Stripes

Riders on the Storm - the Doors

My sixteen-year old daughter saw Coldplay earlier this week in concert. She was actually more interested in the start-up band than them, but said they were surprisingly good, that they really knew how to work the crowd.

There are some bands like that, that are much better in person than on radio. And the converse is true, too.

Any Jimmy Buffett will do.

If you are just wanting to relax with calm, soothing instrumentals, go to Magnolia House in Grayton and buy any of Nancy Veldman's CD's.

Anything by Bob Marley and the Wailers. Also, there is a two-disc CD entitled "Beach Music" that contains tunes from the 60s and we play it constantly when at the beach. It makes the kids stick their fingers down their throats, but we make them go out and sit on the steps at Zoo Gallery waiting for a glimpse of a current rock star.

My wife caught most of my beach favorites, but I can add UB40 to the list. ...and she is daring me to add one of my favorites, Tom Waits, who's music goes anywhere.

"The Red Walls" are a new, young band. Reminiscent of the Beatles.
The Chemical Brothers
the "Run, Lola, Run" soundtrack.
The Gipsy Kings

All of the above can be found on Rhapsody.

I like the songs of the frogs and the waves. They beat man made music, which I truly enjoy, any day.;-)
