The bridge at Dune Allen is open today!...ha, ha, ha, just joking...(ya'll sure are gullible) A spokesman, who insisted on remaining anonymous, predicted that it would be open by Christmas, although he wouldn't specify which Christmas. In a related story, the Public Works Department has entered into a remedial contract-writing course, and will soon learn how to enforce road contracts. Stay tuned for as long as you like...

They had the asphalt trucks last Thursday. That probably indicates only a few more months. I hope they don't hire the same company to build the permanent bridge at Draper.

So it looks completely done as of today. For some reason we have to continue to wait, probably for an engineer to look at it, spit in the dirt and say "looks good".

Many of you are asking when the bridge will be open. Between contractor issues and weather, the project is 2 months behind. Walton County has taken the project back from the contractor and will work very hard to get the bridge open as soon as humanly possible. This is one of the reasons I am against granting every project to the lowest bidder.

Advice from the kitchen table - if you have such a problem with this contractor, don't accept any more bids from them.

Who was the contractor? For some reason that ID is being left out. I'd think people should know who was responsible for this cluster $@#%.
