I guess we got spared again. This morning when I left for work there was a little covering of ice on the truck and slush in the driveway and streets. The temperature was around 35/36 so it was mostly sleet that fell. I just hope we don't get what Chicago is getting now.

Ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times I dialed the inclement weather hotline for work this morning, only to hear the same, sugary sweet voice say "no updates for today." I'd like to give THEM an update:

My car left at the bottom of our driveway because driveway was too slick to tackle

Jeans wet up to knees navigating down to car this morning

Mr. Lucky, out of bed at 7 a.m. on his day off to unearth car from snow

Making my way to work at 35 miles an hour on country roads, then to major highway, only to park myself behind an eighteen wheeler to ensure I had something similar to a groove to drive in

Three cars spun out on highway

"Low traction" message flashing the entire drive on car's console

Work parking lot NOT plowed

Realization of being stuck in my parking spot at work (guess I should have brought my sleeping bag)

Wet jeans and socks (good thing I had the foresight to bring dry socks)

That is my update for the inclement weather hotline, not to mention that the Air Force Base is CLOSED.

That just stinks! I am glad that you at least made it there safely. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine once. She dragged herself to work during a snowstorm (after checking the weather hotline). Only a dozen or so people made it in out of hundreds. The ones who stayed home got a free paid day off. The others got a new coffee mug! :bang:

Thanks!
No free paid days off here, just pizza for lunch ;-). I'd have been pretty ticked about that mug, though! I'll be fine as long as no one else sends me an IM, email or Facebook messsage asking me if I am at home or at work. :D
