Guns and God

Lindsey Graham and Fox News are twisting themselves in knots trying to make this massacre by a white man with a gun shooting black people about religion instead of race. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. There seems to be a bit of irony in the fact that two of the rightwing's favorite things, God and guns, have engaged in a battle. Sadly the score is gun-9, God-0.

Edit: It's a trifecta! add Rick Santorum to the "it's about religion" crowd.

Why aren't conservatives encouraging people to carry guns into church? All it would have taken is one armed good guy to prevent this tragedy.

I carry mine into church and everywhere I go. You'd be surprised who's got one hidden.

Everyone in the church could have been armed just like everyone in the theater in Colorado could have been carrying a weapon we'll just never know.

This is where I may stand outside mainstream opinion, but I think all forms of extreme fanaticism are forms of mental illness. That means most republicans are not right in the head for sure. Probably most people for that matter. I mean you would have to be incredibly messed up mentally to gun down nine people because of their physical differences, and ignore the fact that you are throwing your own life away as well. That doesn't let the person off the hook in any way of course. I do however believe that this person, due to his DNA and warped thought processes could not have been expected to act any differently [at that exact instant]. In other words, it probably could have been prevented if someone or something had influenced him differently at some point in his life [prior to the shooting]. The idiot who gave this obviously ****ed up person a .45 certainly didn't help matters any.
