H1N1 hits home

Our grandson Camden was diagnosed this morning. Good news, he'll be fine, keeping him quite will be the hard part.

He was running a low grade temp this morning. Since they were headed on a two week vacation Monday, my daughter took him in as a precaution. He's considered high risk due to his asthma, so they did the test and confirmed he does have H1N1. Camden and Evan both had the regular flu shot, but their pediatrician had not yet received the H1N1 vaccine. Hopefully, baby Evan won't get it as well.

I was freaked out when I first got the news. Since I've talked to her and Camden was asking for Sprite, popsicles and the remote control, I feel better. Guess I'll have the beach wagon cleaned out and ready for their arrival week after next.

i'm sorry to hear this GTTBM. I just know he'll be fine though. I heard another family had it and they said by the time they found out it was the flu, that all the kids were over it. Hopefully Camden will get over it quickly too.

Yes, it is going around - I know several Sowallers who are recovering from it w/ the help of Tamiflu!

So sorry to hear this regarding your precious Camden. Hope Evan doesn't get it.

The nasal swine flu vaccine is available in our county for children 2-24 (so that includes our daughter), health-care providers, emergency responders, and contacts/caregivers of infants younger than six months old.

I am really scared about whether or not to insist that daughter takes the vaccine. Then hubby will be next in line due to receive it due to his prosthetic valve. I just don't know what to recommend for them.

GTTBM, please keep us updated on your sweet grandchullins.

Hit my oldest too and several of his friends and classmates. For them it wasn't really a big deal. Hope all goes well.

I think Camden is going to be back to running speed in short order. He goes to 5 day pre-school and my guess would be that is probably where he was exposed. Good news is Evan isn't in day care, so hopefully...

Mommy sounded cool and calm when I talked to her. I'm sure having Just Jason home as a back-up is a huge relief to her.
