Oh, the howah. I had to get glasses today. I've never worn them before. My hub has been saying that, since I turned the big 4-0 that I would need them, but I scoffed. Glasses? Never! (doing my best Lurch imitation.. ohhhhhhhhhhhh...) So, he was right. Of course, I'm not telling him that I am admitting he was right. That would be just too much for one day.

I've had glasses/contacts since 5th grade. I never, ever wear either now. I need bifocals, but I absolutely refuse to wear any! This does impair my ability to drive at night, and to read most signs, but other than that, I'm good. Drove all the way to Florida and back with none. I do sometimes secretly buy those magnifiers at the $ store to read though. Shhhh. Not many people know this. AND, I've only backed over a couple of trash dumpsters and a couple of people who didn't move fast enough (JK). So, there you have it, my dirty little secret.

Well, I feel for you. I had to start wearing those reading glasses this year and I'm 49. It hit me so fast. One day I could read the smallest print then the next week, I had to read stuff directly under the light. Menus are a pain, recipes, directions on everything is almost impossible! I have bought those over the counter, 1st level of glasses. But I have to wear them on top of my head everywhere I go in case I need to read something. Having never had to wear glasses before, it's a real pain in the azz. I get nauseous if I wear them all the time. I'm actually thinking of getting Rx glasses that are clear on top with the Rx on the bottom half, just so I don't have to keep taking them on and off constantly!!
At least glasses look good now.

Audie, are you a candidate for that laser surgery? I've known several people who have had great success.

One of my best friends never, ever wore her glasses in public, or to drive, in case someone might see her. She always got along fairly well and had been compensating for sooooo many years. Then she got contacts and was in total shock that you can actually see the leaves on the trees when you're in the car!! She exclaimed on how much she'd been missing out on sightseeing! I guess some people are almost blind when they drive!

My sister had to get glasses as a freshman in college and she flipped out, but once she saw the Prada frames she was ok with it.
