I was blessed with natural blonde hair. I have never had to color it, I know I am lucky. I have people, including hair stylists that argue with me because they think I color my hair and they don't believe me.
Darlene, I am going to try really hard to still love you in spite of this!

My gray is coming in that ugly gray color and is wirey and curly (my non-gray hair was straight and light brown). I wasn't lucky enough to inherit my mom's gray hair which is stark white and straight and absolutely beautiful. So I'm going to keep coloring it (and using a flat iron on the curly stuff). BTW my hair is blonder now than in this picture. I decided I liked it a little blonder.

BTW I hate you Darlene for having natural blonde hair! (Just kidding).:D

Is this about the color it is now? ;-)

You and I have similar mothers in that respect. My mother's gray started with a single streak that started at her widow's peak. It was the most gorgeous thing you ever saw and she always got compliments about her "stylist." Everyone wanted to know who did her hair. They assumed my mother traveled to Boston to get it done!

I asked my children what they would think about me letting Mother Nature turn me gray and they were horrified at the idea. My daughter even went to far as to make me pinkie swear that I wouldn't do it until she got out of college (at the least). They don't want a mama who looks old and gray, I suppose. :rotfl:

One thing that made me agree with them is that all my clothing goes with hair that's still red, natural or not! All those autumn colors of greens, rusts, and heathery tones would look dreadful if I weren't a redhead any more. I'd look so washed out.

KD,y ou're a sweetheart but I hate you anyway. :D With each child my hair got just a little darker and more blah. I feel like it's not even really a color. It's not really blonde anymore but it's not brown either. :dunno:

Yes, except a bit rooty (that photo was one week after new color). The photo of me and Mom was last spring before my colorist started doing the glaze. All of my friends say they like it better blonder.

I like it blonder BR, it's really pretty!

What exactly is a glaze, anyway? How does it differ from "traditional" coloring processes?

"A translucent color gloss that richens natural hair color while putting a protective shine on hair." I dunno the difference between that and regular coloring - I just do what my colorist says. I suppose it preserves the highlights, yet enhances the color of the unhighlighted pieces of hair.
