The whole thing is a cluster - while one can understand wanting to help these kids, how the hell did they think taking kids away from their parents would end well?

Something doesn't add up. I can understand them wanting to help, but you just start taking kids out of the country and think that it will be ok? Doesn't make much sense. If their intentions were pure, I hope it works out, but if they weren't I hope they have to spend some time in a Haitian jail cell.

I'm sure their intentions were good...but heck, I see kids all the time and think I'd be a much better parent that the sad lot the child has ended up with...that doesn't give me the right to offer some poor girl enough money for a meth bender and abscond with her toddler.

Apparently they took the kids with the full blessing of their parents - which jibes with the unfortunately nasty norm for kids in Haiti. Not saying it was right, just that they had parental blessing.

One of my adopted moms was abandoned as a kid - because the family couldn't afford to feed everyone (depression era). She was 12 and so could take care of herself, while her little bro couldn't. I don't know the entirety of the story beyond that - just that we don't serve her wild game because she had too much of it (and many parts most wouldn't eat) as a kid.

Hard to fault a parent for wanting a better life (or survival) for their kid, but I just want to smack these idiots upside the head for not seeing the forest for the trees.
