Thanks DD and I can't believe I missed national donut day!My favorite is honey dip - the doughy donuts (not cake donuts - never cake donuts) glazed with honey all the way around (not just on top).

Never ever EVER cake doughnuts. Those aren't "real" doughnuts.
My favorite is the real doughnut's big badass cousin, the funnel cake.![]()
Yes, I guess you could call me a donut snob.
I mean think about it. You have this dough that has been dunked in oil and has absorbed about a barrel of oil. Then they put powdered sugar or sprinkles in a attempt to make it look attractive. Really though, after you eat one, you either need a Neti Pot to get the powdered sugar unstuck from your nasal cavities, or some serious amounts of dental floss to get all the sprinkles out of your teeth. And, the ones with filling will always require a Tide Stick and a prayer it comes out of your blouse. You never know what direction that ooze will come shooting out of.
Don't even get me started on the digestion issues. It shouldn't be Donut Day, but Donut Week. Just sayin.
The cake donuts have a tendency to soak up the grease, if cooked properly it should be fairly greaseless.
As for filling donuts I'll reveal my secret to you on that one.
First look for the seam of the donut. Follow the seam around the donut until you find the filling hole. This is the area to bite so that the filling doesn't goosh out. Once bitten you should bite to the left and right of your original bite. This clears out some of the donut so you can get at the filling repository. Now you can either suck out the excess filling or continue eating the donut without "blouse fear".
Bon Appetite!
You caught me, can you pick out which one I am?
