All this is so true. It takes life lessons for us to realize that there is a fate worse than death sometimes.

So sorry Pea and Gttbm for your sad weekends. :sosad:

Just yesterday at the grocery store, I went to take a shopping cart and another family was next to me taking a cart. Their father walked over to me and gave me a bear hug and said, you look lovely today. His son came rushing over to fetch him, and was apologizing profusely explaining he had Alzheimers. I told him no need to apologize, that wouldn't the world be a nicer place if more people did that, but the sorrow in his son's eyes really touched me.

I really hope the center is one of those nice ones. My great Aunt Jeana recently decided to live in an elderly care center after a couple of falls at her daughter's house and apparently it's a really good center. My mom's a nurse and she totally approves of it, reporting that the nurses there are so nice, they practically bend over backwards for their patients.

Which is good, cuz I don't wanna beat up anyone that mistreats my god mother if ya get my drift.

I used to visit an Alzheimers center when I was in middle school with my church. I hope they get a lot of visitors, it makes them so happy!! And I loved to sit there and listen to them tell me what they remember. I love that about all elderly folks.

Hey PP. I am so sorry for what you are all going through. I know it is so tough and sad for you all. And GTTBM....man.....your sis. That would be seriously tough. I guess the older we get the closer this will hit to home. My dad is very confused but we don't really think it is alzheimers because he is already 83 and he has had some mini strokes. Sometimes you never do know what's going on.

I am so sorry Peapod and GTTBM. It sure puts life in perspective. "Don't sweat the small stuff" seems so appropriate now. Hug your kids, your siblings and your family and be there for each other.

Right now Mr. Pod is tending to his mom; she really hasn't recovered from being so sick this weekend; her doc recommended she go to the ER, so Mr. P is taking her. What a day it's been.
He did go see his dad today, and he said Grandpa Pea seems really good--very content. That's good news.

Thanks JR. Today I am taking care of my son. He's so sick, although, I do love to fuss over him.;-) Even though he's grown up and moved out. Keeps me busy.

Prayers and hugs to you and your families Peapod & GTTBM. Years ago my parents had to put my Grandma in an assisted living facility; of course then they didn't call it Alzheimer's - just said Grandma was senile. I can vividly remember the years leading up to this and how volatile the living situation was at my parents house. They just agonized over putting grandma "in a home" but it was ultimately the best option for everyone concerned. I hope the same for you and your families.
