J.K. Rowling is the first author to become a billionaire by writing books.

She was paid $4,000 as an advance for the first book. More than 325 million books of the 7-book series have been sold in 200 countries. The first 4 movies have made $3 billion or so and billions more from action figures, games, etc.

Now that's some serious magic.

Anyone read the book?

I wish I had that luxury....time to read a book. I find myself listening to audio books more and more.

To be J.K. Rowling, with that kind of success, must be totally awesome!:clap_1: ....I just don't know where that magic comes from. It's wonderful though.

I've read up to the fourth and Sam has read all of them and is anxiously waiting for the 7th coming out this summer. I still remember how in awe I was after seeing the first movie. Everything was so familiar, kind of like deja vu. JK Rowling is so visual and descriptive in her writing. She's an amazing, incredibly imaginative talent. She revolutionized reading for teen/pre-teens. :clap_1:

Dylan recently finished reading Eragon. (hasn't seen the movie yet) This book was written by a 17 year old boy. Dylan absolutely loved the book and is now on the second one Eldest.

Excerpt from Christopher: I hope that Eragon will leave you with the same sense of wonder that I had while writing it. I do believe in magic?the magic of stories to give you wonder, awe, and revelations. Such feelings can come from small things; in a fey vision of fairy dust swirling in marble moonbeams, or at the end of an epic where a wave of emotion washes over you, sweeping away the mundane world for a moment.

It really excites me when my child is entralled in a book. Both of my children have been great readers from early on but not motivated readers. They would rather play outside, play a video game, or whatever. They were always required to read but didn't read for pleasure as often as I would have liked. I am so grateful for the Harry Potter series, Series of Unfortunate Events and books like Eragon, that have their captured attention and provided hours of enjoyment for kids everywhere.

My oldest nephew has read all of the books. I think I'll read them too because books tend to be better than the movies.

I wonder if I could sell my Lightbulb Man series I wrote and designed for my youngest nephew when he became enthralled with motion lighting. :funn:

YOu are such a good aunt. Dylan's class wrote and published books this year. His teacher told him he should write children's books. ( love it when a teacher plant's a seed) When I get time I need to type out the story for you all to read. It's called Donkey the Donkey.:D I was amazed at his illustrations. He reproduced Donkey and his friend Theodore several times in the book and they all looked the same. I could never to that. They would look different each time.
