Is anyone else having a totally lousy night like I am? Was trying to make my dishes ahead of time for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow all of which have been a flop. My mom insisted I make sweet potato casserole which I didn't want to fix in the first place and it didn't come out like I liked it to because I used only one large can of candied yams as my mother and I are the only ones who will eat any out of the 5 that will be eating at her house. She doesn't want marshmallows on top which I am putting anyway. I tried to make the baked apricots destindreamin makes, didn't even get finished layering the things in the baking dish and I threw that down the disposal. Wasted half a stick of butter, a pack and a half of crackers, and two small cans of apricots, and no telling how much brown sugar. So I am making what I planned on making in the first place to take also which is my cheesy hashbrown potato casserole. Maybe that will come out right. I have been in a sour puss mood the entire evening. And to be honest, I could care less about Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow after all this. Just had to vent!:bang:

I hope the rest of your evening goes well. Cheer up though be thankful that your family is going to be with you tomorrow and that you have a nice meal prepared once you finish cooking and a nice comfortable home to sit and enjoy it.

This evening while leaving a Mexican joint I was approached by a man who asked for money and all I gave him was pocket change, about $.75. Afterwards, while sitting in traffic I asked myself why I did not do more for him and in the back of my mind I thought he may go to the liquor store across the street. I should not have thought this--it is not my place to judge.

Well, bsmart, everyone but my son will be at my parents tomorrow. I know I will be having a good meal unlike others, like the person you gave pocket change to. I donate at Thanksgiving and Christmas to the Memphis Union Mission here that fixes the traditional turkey and dressing dinner for the homeless at both holidays. My husband and I both have given either change or a buck or two to street people and we thought the same as you, that they would be heading to a convenience store or liquor store to buy a quart of beer.

it must be something in the air lady - mr audie tried to make a chicken/veggie/rice dish yesterday that wasn't a huge success..either the directions were printed wrong or the oven is going out, because he baked it forever and it never got entirely done. he was so disappointed. i just threw on my clothes and went to work, this is just another day in a long endless line of days to me. am looking forward to the leftovers my tech's mom always sends for us to eat though...

I had a great night last night. I have dressing ready to go in the oven. My turkey is brining, I made the Cracke Barrel Double chocolate coke cake, my mac and cheese is ready to cook as well as my green bean casserole, made a strawberry-jello cream cheese thing that is in the fridge. Drank a bottle of wine, talked to a friend, now I am ready to go!!!!! Let the feast begin!!
