Final Chapter: repair guy finally got ice melted and found the problem. The defroster inside the unit had become disconnected. He reconnected
And checked the new air handler for a problem with the emergency heat was hooked correctly only think he could find was maybe the connection in the thermostat ( Honeywell wifi)
Was loose. Nice toasty 69 Now. Hope the saga is over. :polarthawhappening:

easy fix,but those 2 problems together were definitely not good. hopefully tonight is the non-polar opposite of arctic hell last night. i would still trip the breaker for the outside unit and see if the strips kick on. hopefully he tested that as well...
