I recommend dying the rest of the street in front of your house to match and fining the rest of the homeowners.

OK, help me here. :dunno:

An out-of-state friend of mine visiting recently parked on the asphalt street of my gated community. His 1990 Volvo 240 dribbled oil, and God know what else, onto the asphalt on the street....

I bought something at Home Depot to remove it, and it made it worse--spread the stains further!!

Any home grown or homemade recipes to remove oil stains on asphalt before I get fined by my community??

Sorry, H, you have to do humble manual labor if you want to not incur the wrath of your neighborhood. SCRUB. On your hands and knees, hard. And long. Rinse and repeat. With every cleaning agent known to man. I say this as a past ten-year owner of a British racing machine.

I wouldn't live in a gated community if you paid me and it's because I hate scrubbing.

This sounds silly, but use Dawn liquid dish detergent. It is used for a lot of grease-removal projects, and I've known it to remove oil from other places. Worth a shot, anyway. You might also try bleach.

No, it's not silly. It works. You have to use a million products to get rid of free-will offerings from old cars.

UPDATE: Kitty Litter worked at absorbing the oil film on asphalt--thanks landlocked!

Singing chicken--You are right--asphalt is an oil by product like motor oil, so it really becomes a pemanent stain to some degree--It like pouring chocolate milk into regular milk--it is not totally seperateable!
