If you look closely in the photo, you will see that there are umbrellas, beachgoers, etc. on the adjacent state park's beach. Why would they show this unless this is the intent? Is it OK for a private hotel resort to just use the people's state park property for their own private use?

It's an architectural rendering by an artist who likely has no idea. Jeez.

You don't know what you are talking about. They recently built nice wide beach access ramp/pathway on their westernmost boundary, the boundary with Henderson State Park.
As is their right to do so.

True, it is one's right to build a beach access on one's own property.

So, Dawn, you would not have an issue if a large resort was building right next to Topsail Preserve and built a wide beach access point on their border with the intent of using Topsail Preserve's pristine beaches for the commercial entities customers?

The point is, this is already going on with Emerald Grande using Norreigo Point's Osteen PUBLIC Park as THEIR beach with chairs, ferry drop off, etc. without paying the city of Destin a dime for this. And now it appears that Henderson MAY be intending to do the same.

And while this is "Destin, not SoWal", it's safe to say that Destin is more of a matured market, having issues that SoWal is starting to have. Don't think that there are not Walton County developers who would start clearing land today if they could get a D.O. for a resort/hotel adjacent to a Walton County park and start using the park's land for their own beaches....

Walton County parks are open to all with no fees. State park's require payment no matter how you get to the park. The Inn should inform and expect guests to follow park rules. Communication is key. Try talking directly to the people in charge. See what their intent is. Try getting to your issue right away instead of making reactionary assumptions and potshot posts.
