I'd like to find out...

Someone basing a prediction on data that turns out to be incorrect does not mean that the prediction is 100% false and the opposite is now true.

The glaciers are still melting and it is a concern, it is just not happening at the rate some guy pulled out of his arse.

How do you know the Himalayan glaciers are shrinking AT ALL? Please cite your sources so I can check them out. Thanks!

Maybe you should check out the article you linked.

Himalayan Glaciers Seem to Be Growing : Discovery News

Throughout much of the Tibetan Plateau, high-altitude glaciers are dwindling in the face of rising temperatures.

I don't know much about climate science but I know something about the scientific process. It is a back and forth. New data is gathered and theories are adjusted. The climate of the earth is massively complex.

Something tells me that people who feel the need to create a target out of some public figures to throw stones at, and call people "warmers" and such are not thoroughly familiar with deep thought. Be assured that anyone creating a website like the last one you linked to filled with articles like "Scientists Are Pawns, Politicians Are Evil, It Is All A Hoax", might also be trying to sell you something.

To summarize: Thousands of scientists work together and in opposition to further knowledge in this particular field. Knowledge that grows and changes every day. I question the motives and intelligence of any layman who is convinced one way or the other.

AZStreak - who are you and where did you come from with your first 2 posts? Are you a spammer or do you have a connection to the SoWal community?

Right here!
can you indicate which ones are growing?

There's growth in some areas and melting in others. I believe Alaska has seen growth recently, and there are other areas if I remember the news reports right. This doesn't prove man isn't changing his environment - for example glaciers might be growing in areas where climate change is increasing precipitation. Climates change, industrialization may be part of current changes, or maybe it isn?t? I think the jury is still out. To claim we must do something drastic to get back to some sort of unattainable steady state makes little sense to me. (I also tend to put a lot of ?faith? in nature and its ability to self correct.) This whole subject has also been polluted by all the scandals in the scientific community lately revolving around faked data, politics, and money. Honestly I don't know what to think or who to trust.

Besides, I really dig the movie Water World. :D
