But wait, we take care of these people. People in FL should be stepping up to the plate to provide and take care of these homeless people......:dunno: Couldn't resist - just kiddin'.

I've actually met some homeless people who made that choice. Not everyone on the street is on the street due to Big Bro. or Corp America kicking them around.

$36K/yr.? Wonder who is paying for that?

Moi. I just paid $5.50 to go over the bridge to the Island, courtesy of Mike Bloomberg.

Maybe you can make a deal with Bloomberg to take a homeless person off the island for a 50% toll discount on your return trip.

I've read about the Tent Cities set up in the St. Pete area but think it was for single homeless people. I'm sure there are more down that way as its easier to house them in tents in consistantly warmer areas. I"m sure there are places here in the panhandle that could accomodate some.

They're not just randomly sending them to Florida to live in tents - they are helping people in homeless shelters move to a place where they have a family member willing to take them in and then checking up on them once they get there.

The cost of the plane tickets, gas cards, etc. is a FRACTION of what it would cost to keep them in shelters on the taxpayer dime.

Yeah, Y'all get nailed up there, Mango. GA 400 is still only $0.50 and it's now paid for.

Most want to toll booths taken down. I am thinking we should leave it up and help raise money to replace the water/sewer infrastructure that FED won't help us with because we had a corrupt Mayor, um, something like 15 years ago!

Talk about getting screwed.

...but once they get to the Sunshine State they'll be seeking out Medicaid and Food Stamps...THAT comes out of the Florida State Budget. Will they jack up the price for the Fla Residents' Fishing licenses and State Park admissions to pay for it?

With Florida bracing for 11% unemployment next year and into 2011, this could only service to jack up those numbers considerably...although, they won't find their way to the "reported statistics."

A hat-tip to Bloomberg--there's no denyin' that this program is a stroke of genius.
