Beck's transformation to religious leader continues:

FOXNews.com - Beck Amends 'Obama is Racist' Charge, Questions President's Belief in 'Collective Salvation'

It's not that he thinks the President is a racist, it's just that they have differing theologies.

Watch - everything he says now will have some mention of God and faith. This may make him a billionaire.

Palin referred to him yesterday as "Dr. Glen Beck". And so it begins....

So what? Just because he is a public figure and favors the right side of the political spectrum, does that mean he is prohibitied from participating in the religion of his choice?

It is always funny when the left goes ape s*** crazy over anyone on the right expressing a religious view but not a word is ever said about the left doing the same thing.

Funny, Beck drew over 100,0000 while Sharpton drew around 3,000. I guess there is a vast right wing conspiracy.

the formation of the tea party and timing of the protest comes after the election of a black democrat. your assertion is valid only if you deny that fact. deficit doubling and tea bag angst is the domain of the dummy gop.

If you will do a little research you will find the tea party originated around the time of the TARP vote, before the election of Obama. You will also find that the tea party has been critical of the Republicans and the Democrats. We expected better from the Republicans and Bush rewarded that faith with a crazy war and huge deficits and bailouts. Obama has made things far worse but Bush started it.

As to the "dummy gop" comment, is that the left's version of rational political discourse?

there was no protest and angst when the dummy from dallas was at the helm. that's entirely rational, and should be required reading in texas public schools. perhaps that could bump creationism to make room for american history. Tea Party movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia On January 24, 2009, Trevor Leach and members of the Young Americans for Liberty in New York State, expressing a desire for a freer economy with less government intervention, held a protest against proposed new taxes on "non-diet sodas" in NY. Several of the protesters wore Native American headdresses, similar to the band of 18th century patriots who dumped tea in Boston Harbor to express outrage about British taxes, drawing parallels to the original Boston Tea Party.[24]

Geo, I was not trying to be a smart aleck when I posted this morning. I fully meant to try and insert some sensibility and some insightful response to your questions after the morning opinion shows were over. I no longer feel like even trying to do so. After reading the responses recorded by some on the left, I realize it is a fruitless endevour. Idlewind has it exactly right in post #21. Among many on the left who post here there is often not even a modicum of civility. If one on the right post the same type of post they, it would appear, are banned. I know of at least one personally. She is a really good person and contributor to society. I always thought the political and current events forum of SoWal was fairly open to all to express their thoughts, research, experience and opinions openly, if at sometimes, sharply. It would appear that such is not the case. Therefore, I will continue to read the posts, say something objective when necessary regarding local government and happenings in SoWal and ignore the diatribes, idiocy and downright dirisiveness of so many who post in the political forum. I thought I could keep up with the best of them and I probably could but it has lost its intrest for me
One thing more. Glen Beck is trying to tell all that until we stand up for what we believe, what we were brought up with and what we have been taught as individuals we cannot work together as a group. I understand what he is trying to say. It is too bad so many don't. Until you can evaluate, understand, utilize and accept what has happened to you as an individual in life, you will never be able able to function successfully in society. If you don't have faith in yourself and your individual capabilities and learnings, then you have faith in nothing. Glen Beck said in his opening statement of the interview, "If the message is just for today, its meaningless". He was right.

from the article:
.
...... Beck, who is Mormon, said most Christians don't believe in liberation theology.

"That is a direct opposite of what the gospel is talking about," said Beck."It's Marxism disguised as religion."

Beck spoke after hosting his "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, which attracted hundreds of thousands of Americans. Beck said the event, meant to honor the U.S. military, was not supposed to be political, and for the most part, politics were left out of the conversation.

"The message I was trying to send was be your highest self and stand in the burning bush, stand in the fire, because that's the only thing that's going to save us," he said. "I've come to the place where I believe there's no way to solve these problems, these issues ... unless we solve it through God, unless we solve it through being our highest self, and that's a pretty tall order.".....

.
So now Obama is not racist, according to Beck - Marxist sounds better for the time being. Whatever might spur on his followers!.:sarc:

He seems to be throwing out labels to try to get something to stick.

I'm trying to visualize what Beck's "highest self" would be..

While you are exacly on point and have every reason to the feelings you express I hope you will regroup and reconsider. While we do not agree 100% I respect your insight and experience. There are many people who read the forums who for one reason or another never post and your views help influence them towards the truth.

I'm going to read the article, but before I do, WTH is collective salvation??? It sounds like arranging unwanted items for curbside pickup by some charitable organization.

People fear what they don't understand. This gathering is essentially a tribute to the beginning of the end of big gov't, wasteful spending and getting back to our founding principles. It's basically an anti-progressive gathering.

Well if it's anti-progessive, I wish the TPers would quit trying to sell it to all of us progressives.

/QUOTE]

Did I suggest he couldn't participate/voice his beliefs? When?

I don't object to his voicing his beliefs - you'll never hear me criticize Mike Huckabee for it.

I am saying that I cannot find a place in Beck's boat, no matter how strongly I might feel about overspending in government, because I think he wants a Christian theocracy.

That's America. He says what he wants, I disagree with it, I voice my opinion. I never said he should be arrested.
