I haven't opened the link, but I'm also echoing the sentiments - we are very, very proud to have Sacred Heart here. I've been in their emergency room three times and am now undergoing testing ordered by my primary doctor, and in all cases have I been treated well. Billing can be interesting, but it really isn't any worse than any other hospital's billing department.

For the record, I also spent a week in Sacred Heart in Pensacola and was treated VERY well. I have heard that going in thru their ER in Pensacola can be hellacious - my sister-in-law was in liver failure and had to wait six hours - but I got to skip that as I was admitted in pre-op at 5 a.m. Again, billing was interesting as there were separate bills from the hospital, the physician's group, the pathologists, the anesthesiologist, etc...but I expected that.

The only complaint I had (other than the 4 a.m. blood draw lady) was that I needed a form UB72 from Sacred Heart Hospital to turn into my employer's hospital in-patient $100 per day coverage. I planned to finish paying my bill with that money. However, Sacred Heart's billing would not release the UB72 before the bill was paid in full. Catch-22!!!

The data provided is worthless if you know nothing about the demographic of the patients in question. Without knowing the baseline health status of the patients, you could argue either the hospital is doing a good job or a lousy job.

They are not providing very much data.

FYI - Sacred Heart does not run it's own emergency rooms. An outside company is on contract for that.
