SHELLY...I am smarter than you think! ;-) That was the first question I thought of. Sorta' like I always want to know why someone is selling a house that I am looking to buy. (maybe I am just nosey :D ) May have to PM you our business plan along with a non compete contract for you to sign. This could be HOT and I DO know the power of this message board!

I think it would be great from about spring break (mid March) to Labor Day. What about after that? Can you make enough just during that time? My questions are:

1) Where would you sell them from? What permits are required from the locations to sell them?

2) Permits for food service? Inspections and all of that can get pricey.

3) Storage of the food supplies during off hours.

4) Storage of hot dog cart in off hours.

You won't have a lot of capital in the hot dog cart itself, but what about other costs?

Jfunn, I think you would be grayt at this!

Shelly, perhaps they are selling it because everything is always a lot more work than people think. I think to ever be successfull at ANYTHING, you have to be willing to put the time & hard work it takes into it, not just the money. In my time I have found that most people are not. I have rented out of good bit of commerical property and can't tell you how many people I won't rent to because say for example our commerical property on 30-A......Daddy calls because wife/daughter wants to open a boutique, have no experience, they just want to open it. It never works so I am looking for a new tenant in six months. Being successful at anything takes a lot of time and hard work.

I have a suggestion if y'all are serious about this. What about offering something a little different like http://www.pukadog.com/ The tropical relishes sound yummy and I don't usually eat hot dogs.

 ...did you say PUKADOG???? :puke:

bb...you might still be on the short list of possible investors...watch your step w/ jfunn. She is the ornery one. :D

BB is smack on with all those questions. All of them have to be addressed in your business plan.

Along 30A a good business plan would be a fast food/low cost strategy. I wouldn't go for a phru-phru upscale $4.50 hot dog...there's too much of that going on around here. But that would mean you would have to have high volume sales and quick turnover, so a location with lots of foot traffic would be key--that will be your biggest challenge...that and standing out in the 110-degree heat index days.

Another strategy would be to buy the cart and rent it out for birthday parties, pool parties or pre-sale condo opening parties... ...uh, scratch that last function.
